J. Robin Szabo, OD

A native of Michigan, Dr. Szabo completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 1994. She graduated with academic honors and recognition for clinical excellence from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 2000.  As an Optometry Student, Dr. Szabo served as the President of the Student Optometric Association.  She was awarded over 10 leadership, merit, clinical, academic, service and essay based scholarships during her 4 years in Optometry school.  She completed one externship at Houston Eye Associates focusing on Corneal Surgery, refractive procedures and LASIK management  and another externship at  Plano Eye Associates  Family Practice focusing on complex contact lens fitting and ocular disease treatment and diagnosis.  Dr. Szabo now practices in Crosby,  Texas providing full scope primary care optometry as well as refractive surgery co-management, glaucoma treatment, minor  surgical care of the eye, retinal examination, diagnosis and management of ocular disease, and cataract diagnosis and treatment.   Dr. Szabo has also published research papers and health care articles and performs eye examinations in English and Spanish.

Angela Huizenga completed her undergraduate education at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan, where she received a Bachelors in Vision Science. She graduated from Optometry School at the Michigan College of Optometry in 2008.  While in optometry school, she completed externships specializing in pediatrics, binocular vision, specialty contact lens fitting and primary care.  She moved to Houston in the summer of 2008 to become an ocular disease resident at the Eye Center of Texas, where she trained with several ophthalmologists and optometrists and evaluated over 4,000 patients in one year.  Here she performed evaluations for pre and post operative cataract, LASIK and PRK, glaucoma, cornea and retinal surgeries.  She has completed three mission trips to the island of Dominica to provide its residents with eye exams and glasses.
